WHAT IS CROHN'S DISEASE?

Crohn's is a disease which causes inflammation of the stomach, small intestine and or large intestine but most often involves the small intestine.

WHAT CAUSES CROHN'S?

Crohn's disease is of unknown cause. Current theories for possible causes include allergies, immune disorders or infections.

WHAT TREATMENT IS NECESSARY ?

General measures for treatment include medication and dietary changes. Life style changes such as stress reduction and reduced physical activity help to rest the bowel, giving it time to heal. Medication may be used to combat inflammation and relieve symptoms. Recommended dietary changes include avoiding dairy products, fruits, vegetables, spicy foods, fatty foods, and carbonated and caffeinated beverages. Discuss any concerns with your physician.
